Increasing credit made easy

Would you like to increase a current loan because you need additional money for investments during the term? That's no problem at all: you can increase your loan at any time - whether as a credit top-up for further financing or as a bridging loan.

Credit top-up: When is it possible?

You can top up a loan at any time as long as your credit limit allows it. This is because a credit increase is a second loan that you take out in addition to your current loan. This means that a second loan in the form of a credit increase must not overload your budget.

So if you want to top up your current loan, two things are important, just like when you first took out a loan: Firstly, your previous payment behaviour, which your current bank reports to the Central Credit Information Office (ZEK). If you repay your loan instalments regularly, this favours an increase in credit. On the other hand, anyone who delays payments will have negative entries.

On the other hand, your financing scope also plays an important role: How many additional loans can you afford? Your first loan counts as an expense item when a bank calculates your credit budget. You can easily calculate how high your credit limit is with our free budget calculator.

First repay the loan and then top it up?

Before you increase your current loan with your current loan provider, you should first compare the interest rates on the market (or let us do this for you). It may be worth redeeming your loan before you increase your loan. Because if your credit rating is right, you might be able to get better interest rates.

Before you repay a loan or increase your credit, it would be helpful to look at your credit rating: it may be possible to clean up older entries. You can find out more about this at Clean up your credit rating. Otherwise, only loans without a credit check in Switzerland remain.

Bundling current loans

Whether personal loan, credit card debt or leasing - when increasing credit, it is advisable to bundle current loans. Such loan rescheduling saves interest costs, especially if the loan amounts are higher as a result.

Our tip: Re-evaluate all current loans, credit card debts or leases, compare the interest conditions and bundle all debts into one consumer loan.

I want to top up my current loan. What do I need for this?

First of all, you need three things for your credit top-up:

  • a copy of your current credit agreement
  • an identity card, passport or driving licence or a residence permit if you are from abroad
  • a receipt for your last three payslips

Because the loan providers also check other factors - such as your spending situation, your marital status or your employment relationship - you may have to submit additional documents.

If you let us top up your loan with us, we will take care of all the loan processing tasks from A to Z.

There are many credit providers with even more credit offers. The credit market in Switzerland is very dynamic, which is why it is not always easy to have a good overview of the interest conditions. We take on this task with our loan comparisons.

  • How does a bank calculate my credit limit?

  • What are the consequences if I redeem my loan?
  • Can loans be deducted from taxes?
